Sam is a partner in our litigation team, helping both businesses and individuals resolve complex disputes, protect their interests and make confident decisions.
He focuses on understanding his clients’ objectives and provides clear, pragmatic advice. Sam combines sound, strategic judgment with strong technical litigation skills. He knows when a negotiated resolution is in his client’s interests and when a dispute needs to be fought in court.
Sam has appeared in a wide range of forums including courts, arbitrations, mediations, tribunals and a Royal Commission.
He has successfully resolved cases involving commercial contracts, construction, property, professional negligence, equity and employment. He has particular expertise in insurance law, and was recognised as a Rising Star by Insurance Business across New Zealand, Australia and Asia in 2025.
Outside of work, Sam volunteers as a trustee of Big Brothers Big Sisters Christchurch and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
